Where's Your Water At???

May 10, 2017

You know I am going to ask you if you are drinking enough water and I will keep asking until I hear that you are! So if I see you and say where's your water at, you will pull it out and say drinking it!!! Right???? Ya probably not, I know water is not much fun but ESSENTIAL for life. So yup, you will hear me ask you over and over until you truly hear me lol. I'm the water police folks!

So why is water soooo important? Water is so beneficial, so easy, so free yet so easily overlooked. It’s really a no brainer (actually your brain is 90% water!!!). Your body is about 70% water, the majority of your blood and every cell in your body is composed of water. Therefore, you need water to function properly. Let's talk benefits.

Top 10 Benefits of Drinking Water: Don't Medicate, Hydrate!

1. Increases Energy & Relieves Fatigue

Since your brain is mostly water, drinking it helps you think, focus and concentrate better and be more alert. As an added bonus, your energy levels are also boosted!

2. Promotes Weight Loss

Removes by-products of fat, reduces eating intake (by filling up your tummy if consumed prior to meals), reduces hunger (hello natural appetite suppressant!), raises your metabolism and has zero calories!

3. Flushes Out Toxins

Gets rid of waste through sweat and urination which reduces the risk of kidney stones and UTI’s (urinary tract infections).

4. Improves Skin Complexion

Moisturizes your skin, keeps it fresh, soft, glowing and smooth. Gets rid of wrinkles. It’s the best anti-aging treatment around!

5. Maintains Regularity

Aids in digestion as water is essential to digest your food and prevents constipation.

6. Boosts Immune System

A water guzzler is less likely to get sick. And who wouldn’t rather feel healthy the majority of the time? Drinking plenty of water helps fight against flu, cancer and other ailments like heart attacks.

7. Natural Headache Remedy

Helps relieve and prevent headaches (migraines & back pains too!) which are commonly caused by dehydration.

8. Prevents Cramps & Sprains

Proper hydration helps keep joints lubricated and muscles more elastic so joint pain is less likely.

9. Puts You In A Good Mood

When the body is functioning at its best, you will feel great and be happy!

10. Save Money!

Water is FREE! Even if you choose bottled/filtered water, it’s STILL cheaper than that high sugar and fat-filled latte!

Now let's talk about Alkaline Water - What is it and is it beneficial?

First of all, I have an alkaline water pitcher and I love it. Mostly because the taste of the water, you seriously cannot beat the taste. So what is it anyway. It is filtered water but then they put the minerals back in the water to alkalize it. Keeping our body at a ph of 7 is what we need to keep healthy. If your body is acidic then disease can grow. Most of us end up being acidic because of all the processed foods, dairy and meats we eat. It is vegetables and fruits that make us alkaline but most of us don't get nearly enough. So drinking lemon water, alkaline water, apple cider vinegar all helps alkaline the body.

People who eat healthy and exercise probably won't notice too much of a difference but someone who needs to eat better and doesn't exercise much will notice more.

Athletes or individuals who work out hard will likely see a difference with hydration levels and can go beyond that as well. Intense exercise spurs our muscles to produce more hydrogen ions than our body can efficiently remove. Fatigue increases. Drinking alkaline water might enhance the body’s buffering capacity and temper the acidity, thus improving our performance.

Note that mineral supplements (calcium, magnesium, potassium) decrease cardio-respiratory stress and blood lactate responses, while improving power output in endurance athletes. That’s why long-distance runners sometimes supplement with sodium bicarbonate.

There is a drawback for some. If someone has a kidney condition, or is taking a medication that alters kidney function, some of the minerals in alkaline water could start to accumulate in the body. For these people, high alkalinity might lead to negative side effects.

So whether you should always drink Alkaline water isn't proven to be the end all be all. It won't hurt you, except if Kidney problems. And again to me the water is better tasting well at least with the one I use. I have Santevia www.santevia.com which has a gravity water filter.

To wrap things up, you must drink enough water. If you are peeing yellow, you aren't drinking enough. The only time you really should only pee yellow is after taking supplements. After those have been absorbed. If you are drinking enough water then your pee will be very light yellow or clear. They say on average it's half your body weight in ounces. But you will easily know the right amount by the colour of your pee. Easy peesy :) .

DRINK YOUR WATER!!!! If you don't like add some lemon, lime, fruit, fresh herbs like mint, or cucumber. Infusing your water is a great way to add flavour. DO NOT ADD SUGAR!

So let's get hydrated!
